Solio Lodge is a gem of a safari experience located in the valleys between Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains, the sole accommodation on the Solio Game Reserve. Well-known for its sightings of rhinos and a successful breeding program. The main lodge boasts a beautiful lounge area with comfortable sofas and an indoor dining room set up with an elegant table and chairs.
Guests can enjoy delicious bush breakfasts and end the evening with sundowners accompanied by a dramatic African sunset or take advantage of outdoor dining on a deck beautifully crafted around a giant tree. All meals are created with seasonal ingredients from their beautiful garden.
Guests can unwind with a selection of spa treatments and spend time browsing in the boutique gift shop. Little travelers are entertained by embarking on wildlife walks around the camp with qualified guides or joining chefs in the kitchen to create delicious treats. An array of wonderful excursions are on offer to guests, from horse riding outings to private helicopter excursions and cultural village visits. Location
Solio Lodge is located on the Solio Game Conservancy. Guests staying at Solio Lodge would fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Nanyuki Airstrip, a flight of approximately one hour. From here, guests are met and transferred by road to the Lodge, the drive taking around 45 minutes. Charter flights are available too and driving from Nairobi will be a journey of around four hours, all on good tarmac roads.
Rooms / Tents
Solio Lodge comprises five beautifully appointed guest cottages, all situated among trees and gardens on the Solio Conservancy, all offering amazing views of the incredible surroundings. The cottages boast floor-to-ceiling windows, views of Mount Kenya visible, and a sundeck with views over the sanctuary. The cottages are large and spacious and include a fireplace and cozy sitting area with all en-suite bathrooms comprising double vanities, a rain shower, and gorgeous free-standing baths.
Cottages One and Six offer a double bed in the room while Cottages Two, Three, Four, and Five can be configured as either a double or twin-bedded. Cottage Three is the best for guests with mobility issues and is located close to the main area. Cottage One is located furthest away. All cottages have beautiful stone walls with high thatched ceilings and decor of browns, beiges, and splashes of subtle colors in rugs and scatter cushions. Comfortable, elegant, and simply relaxing.

Game Viewing / Activities
Exceptional game drives and nature walks are on offer daily at Solio Lodge, while guests can explore Solio Ranch on horseback, visit a local flower or coffee farm, and take a scenic helicopter flight over the rocky peaks of Mount Kenya.
Fly-fishing in glistening streams or on the lakes of Aberdare National Park gives guests the chance to enjoy something a little different amid an incredible wildlife haven. Cycling is another fun activity for active guests, and other visitors can enjoy cultural enrichment with a visit to a local school and nearby Maasai Community.
