The Masai Mara is also home to the Great Migration where countless herds of wildebeest and zebra sweep over the savannah in an unforgettable display of wildlife unique to the planet. Sound exciting? Here’s how your safari adventure begins:

We’ll pick you up from the airport, your residence, or Nairobi hotel at 7:30 am and head over the Masai plains, stopping for a scenic break to view the Great Rift Valley escarpment. After arriving at the reserve, you will have time for an afternoon game drive.

Then, for the next two days, get ready to explore the rich terrain and animal life of the Mara. You’ll enjoy unlimited game drives through rolling grassland and signature flat-topped acacia trees. Along with the vast herds roaming the savannah, you’ll visit the Mara River to view hippos and crocodiles. During the season (July through October) expect to witness the wildebeests and zebras of the Great Migration streaming over the river in great numbers.

But your days spent at the Mara are also shaped by your own wishes. You can take breaks, spending time as you please, relaxing at your lodge or camp. Your driver/guide is only too happy to help plan the details of your stay.

As an extra bonus, you can join several optional activities that we offer:

• We can arrange a visit to a Maasai village to meet the local villagers, see their lifestyle and learn about their culture. This is an exciting way to meet and experience the indigenous people of the area.
• If you desire, Adventure In The Wild Safaris will also arrange a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara to view the scenery, the animals and the whole experience of this timeless land from above.

On day 4, which is the final day of your safari adventure, there will be one more game drive in the early morning, before heading back to Nairobi with a lunch stop along the way.

Your Guide

4 Day Masai Mara Game Reserve Safari Itinerary

Day 1: NAIROBI – MASAI MARA (Appx: 265kms – 5hrs)

0730hrs: You shall be collected from your Nairobi area hotel / Nairobi airport / Nairobi residence.

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: FULL DAY – MASAI MARA

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza! The Mara, as it is popularly known, remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the natural world.

Masai Mara reserve hosts the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other park in the region. The scenic appeal of this tree-studded savannah, its moderate climate, and diversity of wild game species make it a one-stop shop for game viewing activities.

We shall traverse the reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing, encountering the Big Five and more of the lesser game. You shall visit the Mara River where you may watch hippos & crocodiles or perhaps witness the Great Migration (during July – October months).

Day 3: FULL DAY – MASAI MARA

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Another day full of wildlife viewing drives. You may choose to have a full day game drive or game drives in separate sessions so that you may also have a chance to enjoy lodge/camp facilities.

Your driver guide shall be readily available to discuss your daily activities depending on your preferences. It is also an opportunity to experience a hot air balloon ride and float over the Masai Mara plains as you watch game (extra cost).

Day 4: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI (265 km – Approx. 5 hrs)

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp, your dedicated driver guide will assist you with the checkout process and proceed to Nairobi – Kenya’s colorful capital city.

On the way, your guide will point out the Longonot extinct volcano, which is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s and its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”.

You can opt to drive via Naivasha for lunch/excursions at an extra cost or drive straight to Nairobi and pass by Kiambethu farm for the tea farm tour inclusive of a three-course buffet lunch (at an extra cost) OR drive straight back to the capital and later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your journey back home.
